| TORPEDO-BOAT BLOWN UP. OFF THE GERMAN COAST. RETORTED BY THE DUTCH COASTGUARD. London, October 7. The Press Bureau reports that the submarine E9 has returned safely, after sinking a German destroyer. The Hague, October 7.

A German destroyer has been sunk off Sthierinonnikoog Island (north of Holland).

The Central News Agency states that the loss of the vessel was caused by a British submarine.

A torpedo boat was patrolling the mouth of the Ems. The Dutch coastguards heard an explosion, saw a high column of water rise about the bows of the torpedo-boat, wiiich capsized and sank in three minutes. Some minutes later two German submarines rose. Soon afterwards a German cruiser steamed up and rescued some of the torpedo-boat's crew. Later in the day Bevcral torpcdoers were seen patrolling the spot. (The Ems, a river of North-west Germany, reaches the sea at The Dollart, whose coastline on the west is Dutch and on the cast German. The boat which was sunk would appear to be a German, though the message is liazy.)
