The fighting before Antwerp on Tuesday was of the most furious character. The Germans advanced between the outer forts, but were shot down by thousands.
They brought up fresh reinforcements from Brussels, and hurried infantry recklessly against the Belgian trenchos, but they eventually crossed the Nethe. Renewed attempts to cross the Scheldt between Gremberghen and Sehoonaerde failed, the German shrapnel inflicting considerable though not serious losses on the Belgians in the trenches.
The Belgian artillery shelled the Germans out of Sehoonaerde, destroying a German chemical factory.

It is reported that the Belgian Ministers have removed their quarters to Ostein!.
Osternl, October 7. Diplomatists accompanied the Belgian Ministers.
The steamer Ardmount struck three British mines, and sank after the third explosion. 1 Numerous skirmishes occurred on Wednesday in the environs of Ypres, and in the southern parts of Western Flanders.
TIRED AND FOODLESS GERMANS.

The Germans, with artillery, reached Kourtvo on Tuesday from Metz, via Liege, very tired, having been without l'uud for forty-eight hours.

iA column of 20,000 Germans, horse, foot and artillery, with a commissariat convoy, traversed Templeiivc, oil the I!i Igiaii border, moving towards Lille. The Germans are clearing the fields in the neighborhood of Brussels of food crops and sending them to Germany by special trains. There are indications that the pavements in front of the leading public buildings have been mined. Heavy sandbag barricades have been erected round the Palais de Justice.
