The American schooner Eric, which arrived at Moturoa direct from Columbia River on Wednesday, fouled its messenger chain, and the harbormaster decided to leave the schooner in the stream over night. Yestemay morning the vessel was brought alongside. The chain that had given the bother carried away later on. Discharging operations will be commenced this morning. The timber will bo distributed throughout Taranaki, and some will go as far south as Wanganui.

THB MAPOURIKA. The Mapourika arrived from Wellington ftt 10.15 a.m. yesterday with 250 tons of general cargo. She sailed for Westport in the afternoon. THE KARORI. 4 Tho Karori is expected to leave Newcastle about the eiid of next week wall coal for New Plymouth and Picton. THE KAIAPOI, Tho Kaiapoi leaves Melbourne tiiis Week for Burnie, Adelaide, Wallaroo, Lyttelton, Wellington and 'New Plymouth.
