She was sighted fit 1.46 p.m., and, without waiting far the services of tliw dredge as tug, «hn sailed right up to the breakwater and anchored in the stream at 8.5 p.m. She did not come alongside the wharf yesterday owing to heir anchor fouling- tho mooring chains of the dredge, but shs will be berthed this morning. The Erio left Columbia River on August 1, and w-aa becalmed oil two occasions, tho first for three weeks and the second for one week. The rest of the passage, howcveT, was mode in very smart time, it having been reckoned than the trip would have taken at least seventy days. No vessels were sighted during tlw» whole trip unuil nearing the New Zealand coast. The schooner is very similar to the H. D. Bendixsen, which made a trip ihcrc from Pugct Sound last year, and is owned by tho. same Arm. The Eric's cargo amounts to 730,000 feet of Oregon pine, besides shingles, lathes and American oak. The timlber t is piled 12ft on deck, and it is estimated that quito half tho timber aboard is above deck. It is expected that discharging operations will I>e completed within a fortnight, when tho Eric will sail for Apia, to load cargo for San Franc-iaco. Captain S. Gronwold is in command of the vessel. Messrs Ppedding, Ltd., are the local agents. THE MArOURIKA. The Mapourika is due from Wellington this morning with about 100 tons of general cargo. » She will proceed to Wcstport after discharging.
