GERMAN RAIDS REPULSED. BRITISH GARRISONS STRENGTHENED. Received G, 8.10 p.m. London, October 5. The Press Bureau reports that during September several German raids were made on British territory, and attempts made to cut the Uganda railway. With the exception ol an unimportant frontier station, where it was inconvenient to send troops, all the raiders were defeated and forced to retire. The garrisons in East Africa and Uganda had now been strengthened by strong bodies of Indian troops and mounted local volunteer forces.
