Thcro is great scarcity of choicest, and a further advance in Danish, a considerable quantity of which is believed to be going to Germany. Choicest Australian nominally 124s to 130s. On Tuesday, 2!) th, at Stratford, I had a good yarding and attendance. The enquiry for all classes was much improved, spirited bidding being obtained for all lines offered, and a good clearance was effected at prices well ahead of recent sales. In tho dairy yards 1 had a full yarding of springers and although there were some nice heifers distributed through the lines the quality throughout was below previous yardings. Small springing heifers still 'continue hard for sale but for well grown heifers showing quality I have an unsatisfied demand. AUCKLAND. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report:— At the W'estii'eld stock sale on Thursday. Best cows, close to profit, sold at from £8 to £9 15s, others from £5 to £7 12s Gd; heifers, from £3 10s to £8 ss; empty cows and heifers, from £3 3s to £5 8s; calves, from £1 18s.to £2 18s; and bulls from £4 10s to £8 Bs. Horses came forward in average numbers at the Albert Yhids on Friday, and sold at late rates. Heavy draught horses made from £27 to £35, medium from £l3 to £27; light harness horse*, from £8 to £l2 10s; hacks, from £5 to £lO 10s; and spring cart horses, £lO 10s. At tho Whitford yards on Monday, dairy eows made from £5 10s to £8; empty cows, from £i 12s Od to £0; heifers, £3 10s to £4; caJres, £1 10s to £2 10s; sheep made from 17s 3d to 20s; horses sold up to £9 12s 6dj sundries sold at low rates. (Stratford branch) report as follows: On Tuesday, 29th September, we held our weekly dairy heifer sale in our Stratford yards. Only a small yarding of 36 head came forward, but prices were well maintained for heifers close to profit and showing quality.
