■ALARM IN THE AUSTRIAN CAPITAL. POPULATION LEAVING VIENNA. Received 4, 4.15 p.m. Rome, October 3. A message from Vienna states that Hie military authorities havo ordered the fortification of the suburbs and adjacent towns. The preparations that are being made for the ultimate removal of the capital to Prague have caused alarm, and the population is leaving. AUSTRIA PREPARES DEFENCE. AGAINST' INVADING RUSSIANS. BIG BATTLE IMMINENT. Received 4, 4.15 p.m. Bucharest, October 3. After occupying the principal towns of Buckovina, the Russians bqgan to advance. Austria Iras concentrated several army corps, including those formerly on tho Servian border, in order to defeat the movement. A big battle is imminent. DISAFFECTION IN THE RANKS. AUSTRIAN ARMY BETRAYED BY GUIDES. Times and Sydney Sun Services. Received 4, 5.5. p.m. London, October 3. Austrians of all ranks at Cattaro are kept in ignorance of the progress of events. They are, not even allowed to know wtut is happening in the adjoining centres, because of the covert disaffection and constant betrayal. An Austrian raid was smashed because tho guides betrayed them to the Montenegrins. The blame of selection of the guides fell on the Austrian Chief of Staff, who, when lie learned of the defeat by telephone, and ■'had the report confirmed by field telegraph, suicided.
