DECEASED PERSONS' ESTATES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. During September 242 deceased persons' estates were finally certified for stamp duty. The largest was that of Alex. Aitken, of Auckland, returned at £27,144. The following is the list of estates oyer £IOOO in the Now Plymouth district: Patrick Sweeney, £l6 771James Ferguson, £8874; Fredk. Gibbons, £1685; Susan Smith £1045. INTERNAL STRIFE. Timaru, Last Night. The Provincial Council of South Canterbury licensees to-day passed resolutions protesting against the prohibition party promoting internal stiife durin« the Empire crisis, and recognising the liberality of tho Trade towards the various patriotic funds; regretting that party bias has construed Lord Kitchener's injunction to abstain from liquor into an order for total abstinence on all occasions, and warning the public against the assertions of a party that has subscribed very little and could embarrass authorities by party warfare and the destruction of a million of revenue in time of serious menace.
