The Board of Agriculture sat for two days this week, all the memibcr* being present, and dealt with a large amount of correspondence! in connection with agricultural matters, and a number of subjects which were referred to it Iby the Minister of Agriculture and others. Among other matters, the Board considered the matter of the appointment of an assistant plant breeder for the Mouinahaki Experimental Farm; the date of the collection of sheep returns; Government grading of grain; limestone on Crown lands, and further search for rock phosphate deposits; the Fencing Act in connection' with rabbitproof fences, and assistance to small farmers desirous) of (netting their properties; noxious weeds; scholarahips f»r New Zealand youths to attend the Melbourne Veterinary University; prevalence of liee and ticks in the Hocks of the Dominion; development of the poultry industry; the quest ion of subsidies for stallions; the packing, inspection and shipping of fruit for export: reports of the scientints upon rural education and the organisation' of the Department of Agriculture. The quesion of agricultural banks was deferred pending the receipt of further particulars, which were being obtained by the. Board. The collecting of further information ii\ connection with the plautina of me antral plateau of the North T.4an<l with suitable trees was also arranged for.
