MR D. J. HUMES' CANDIDATURE. There was a very satisfactory attendance last night at the meeting of liberals and supporters of Mr D. J. Hughes, Opposition candidate for the T&ranaki scat. The main business was organisation and the >;ettiug up of committee?. One of the speakers remarked that though Mr. Hughes was a stranger personally to many of them, his name was well known, for he had loyally supported the New Plymouth harbor proposals for many years on the Waimate Plains, when the •; abject was anathema in his district.
