LEROY, TALMA. AND' BOSOO. On Monday evening, at the Theatre ftoya.l, theatregoers are promised the lnggest evening of magic and wizardry ever presented to a New Zealand audience, when Leroy, Talma and 1 Bosco will show, for onß night only, under the direction of Mr E. J. Carroll. JJuckily jpeopl» arc more enlightened in these days but had Servais iLeroy laved im the good old days of old, and invented any <jf his illusions, he would most assuredly 1 have 'been burnt for witchcraft. Among a number of illusions to i>e presented will be the Hindu trick, to be performed for the first time in New Zealand. Bosco'a ludicrous prolblem in poultry, and many others, practically all of which will be presented for the first time in New Zc.alsii.l. iM-dlle. Talma, the charming lady member of the trio, will demonstratu liw wonderful art of eoin manipulation, while Bosco, in lighten vein, will espo.se many of liia master's Ion!*-thought-out tricks. In fact the programme promised is a gigantic one, and 2% hours will quickly .pass in ibewildlerirent as illusion after illusion is presented. Included in the company are Warner and White, eecentrio dancers, singers, and talkers; "T!he Great Santiicri," who plays operatic selections and other popular melodies on his piano aceordeon, an exceedingly novel instrument; and Napoleon, described as the marvel of the canine world. The box plan opens to-day at Hoffmann's, whore seats may be reserved.
EMPIRE PICTURES. At the Empire to-night a new series of films will be shown. The star item is Mossentr's melodrama, entitled, "From the Jaws of Death," a 3053 ft. production. Included in the story is a big explosion of gunpowder factory. For intense excitement this cannot be surpassed. "The Old Oak's Secret," is a splendid tale of slavery days, and the war in America. "Picturesque Normandy," provides some glorious views, "The Marriage of the Sultan of Paihang," is a decidedly interesting film, "Cinessino as Napoleon" is an amusing and interesting comedy-drama. The comedy section is represented by "All in the lAir" and "The Confiscated Count." Seats may be reserved at the Empire, 'phone 365.
