Danish has advanced 4s; colonial is nominally unchanged in the absence of supplies. Cheese. —Dull. Canadian 745. New Zealand is exhausted. Bacon —Dull. There are fair quantities of Danish arriving, ami it is selling at 80s. Sugar—Granulated, 32s GO. Pig-iron, 51s. Bradford wool. —Merinos quiet. There is better enquiry for all classes of crossbreds; C 4's 28d, super 00's 27d, common 60's 28d. Wheat—Steadier and unchanged; demand slow. Australian, landed, 475. LOAN' AND MERCANTILE CO.'S KEPORT. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd. (Stratford branch) report as follows: On Tuesday, 22nd inst., we held our usual fortnightly sale in our Stratford yards, when we had a fair yarding. There was a good competition and nearly everything was sold with the exception of ono small line of yearling heifers and 2 Jersey yearling bulls. Yearling heifers were in better demand and sold at from 30s to 645; 2-vr-old heifers from 61s to 80s; store cows (small) 525; medium, 70s to 85s; good from 100s to Ills; yearling steers, up to 06a Od; old ewes Ha* hoggets from 12s to lGs. In the dairy pens we had a fair entry of 36 dairy cows and heifers. There was a fair competition for anything showing quality but small grown anil poor conditioned cattle were neglected. 2-yr-old heifers, 85s to 107s 6d; 3vr. old heifers 110s to Mas; good cows, £8 10s to £l2 10s.
On Tuesday, 22nd inst., we held our wool, skin, hide and tallow sale, the first sale since the war broke out. Wc had a fair catalogue and there was a full attendance of buyers, and while wool and sheepskins were much easier, also tallow, hides and calfskins sold well at advanced prices. Crutcliinga showed a marked decline and most bale lots were passed. ■Crutchings in sacks sold at from 3',id to 4d; fleece, old lines, 4d. Sheepskins, damaged, from l'/ 2 d to 3'/ t d per lb; fafr-wooUed pelts, 3%d to 4Vid ■per lb.; good hogget skins, 4%d per lb.; salted pelts, 3s each. Hides. —Cowhides, farmers' lines, light weights, o'/ 4 d to 6%d per lb.; 301b. hides, 7'/';d; dry, 6%d; cu.t and damaged, 5%d; yearling hides, ey 3 d to G%d; fleshy and cut, Cd; calfskins, cut and damaged, 8d per lb.; 51bs. and over, 10% d; 3%lbs, lOd. On Wednesday, 23rd ijist., wc held our usual monthly sale in'our Te Wera yards, when we had a fair yarding of 1)2 head of cattle, most of which were sold at advanced prices. Yearling steers, small, 35s to 40s; 20-mos. steers, £4; 2-ycar-old steers £5 ss; dairy cows from £6 17s 6d to £7 17s fid; dairy heifers from £5 to £8 17s fid. (AUCKLAND MARKET.
