LAND BALLOT.
AT NEW PLYMOUTH. A ballot for several sections in the Turanaki district was held at the Land Hoard office, New Plymouth, on Wednesday afternoon. There were 122 applications altogether for the eleven sections. Mr. A. Coxhcad, member of the Land Board; acted as scrutineer, and the ballot was drawn by Mr. G. H. Bullard (Commissioner). There was a fair number of applicants present. Preference was given to married applicants with families, and to applicants who have been twice unsuccessful within the last two .years. The selections are mostly under the O.K.P. tenure. Following was the result of the ballot:— Section 8, block 11, Maloe, 907 acres. —A. li. Anderson. Only applicant.
.Section 12, block 8, Waitara, 525 acres. —Donald Smith. Only applicant. Section 0, block ll,*Mahoe, 536 acres. —FL G. Trowen. Three applications. Section 10, block 1, Kangi, 458 acres. —IT. S. Troy. Four applications.
Section 11, block S, Ohura, 317 acres. - Section 17, block 2, Aria, 23 acres W. Rcid. Six applications.
Section 1, block 3. Totara, 141 acres. —T. Dcvonport. Eight applications. Section 18, block 2, Aria, 03 acres.— Percy Parkes. Nine applications. Section 13, block 3, Aria, 92 acres V.. S. Coleman. Eleven applications. Section 18, block 2, Heao, 13G acres. —Frank Pearce. Twelve applications. Section 1, block 5, Aria, 52 acres.— Geo. King. Sixteen applications.
