Russia's victories in Galicia were partly due to the refusal of the Austrian Poles to fight against their Russian kindred. Great quantities of arms and ammunition were voluntarily surrendered by Austria's Polish regiments. j Prisoners describe the ill-feclisg engendered among the lAustro-Hungarian officers by the hectoring attitude of the. German general, who accuses them of in- ' competence, and, taunting them with their failures, is endeavoring to take the lead in everything.
