GERMANS GET A SCARE. AFRAID OF THE ANGLO-FRENCII BOGEY. STAMPEDING SOUTHWARDS. Received 25, 1.10 a.m. London, September 23. Mr Donohoc, who is with the Belgian army, telegraphs tliat the Germans have stampeded out of Termonde, Saingelles, and Lebbcke southwards, believing that an Anglo-French army lias arrived. Tho mistake arose through tin Belgians using French and British field guns. The German stalf was about to dine at Lebboke on Sunday, when an officer arrived with fragments of shells. After ft hurried consultation, the regiment was ordered to retreat, and the stall rode heltei skelter to Brussels. GERMANS POUR INTO FRANCE. Ostcnd, September 23. The Germans in Belgium are still going southward. BELGIAN ADVAXCK FROM ANTWERP. Antwerp, September 23. Several divisions are advancing against the German army corps which ■s based on Brussels.
PEASANTS BRUTALLY BUTCHER KD. Received 24,10.15 p.m. London, September 23. The Daily Telegraph reports that Germans captured 14 unarmed peasants at Lehbeke, tied them together against a wall, bayonettcd them, and afterwards cut oil' their limb?.
IN CHINA SEAS. .STAGNATION AT SINGAPORE. Fremantle, September 24. Passengers by the Paroo, from Singapore, report that the City of Lincoln was sunk off Penang by a German cruiser. The passengers were given twenty-nine minutes to leare the ship. There is a grave state of affairs at Singapore. Conditions are also bad in Java, where paper money is useless.
