POOR IN BRITAIN FUND
ARRANGEMENTS FOR COLLECTIONS.
A largely-attended mooting of ladiea was held in St. .Mary's Hall on Tuesday afternoon to make arrangements is connection with the collection on behalf of the P*or in Britain Fund on Saturday, October 3. The t«wn was divided into districts, and the following ladiea were appointed to take charge, and will themselves arrango their workers:—
No. 1 District.—Molesworth and Buller street*, QcUrius l'i'aco find Wool combe Terrace, and cross streets, to Gill street.—Miss Jarvie. No. 2 District.—Gill Street, and cross streets to Devon Street.—Mrs Harle.
No. 3 District.—Devon Street Bast from Cover Street to the Hcnui, and cross streets to Courtenay Street.—Miss Evans.
No. 4 District. —Lemon and Courtenay Streets, and cross streets to Pendarve's Street. —Mrs Roseveare.
No. 5 District.—Pendarves to John Street, Avonuo Road, and the High School and cross streets, also Carrington Road up to Mr Sturtevant's, and all Brougham Street, excepting Powderham Street.—Miss Wilson.
No. 6 District—lline Street and Bulkeley Terrace and cross streets to St, Auhyn Street.—Mrs Wilson.
No. 7 District.—St. Aubyn Street from Brougham Street, and cross streets to Young Street—Mrs Wilson and Miss Bullard.
No. 8 District.—Young Street to Manga otuku Stream, and cross streets Mrs Wilson.
No. 9 District.—Devon Street, from Red House to Post Office, also Currie, Egmont, King, Queen, and Ariki Streets. —Mrs Austin anil Mrs W. Amlmry. No. 10 District.—Powderham, Vivian and Fulford Streets, and cross streets to Bulteel Street—Miss Crookc. No. 11 District.—Bulteel, Down© and Barrett Streets, and Wallace PlaceMrs Baker.
No. 12 District.—Devon Street West from Post Office, and cross streets to Powderham Streot.—Mrs Sanders.
No. 13 District.—Fitzroy, from the He nui to tho Waiwakaiho—Mr* Addenbrooke and Miss Charteris.
No. H District.—Vogeltown, from Mr Carter's, including Brooklands Road and Mill Road.—Mrs G. W. Browne.
No. 15 District—St. Aubyn, from Belt Road to Moturoa, including Veale'u Estate, and from the Bea to Devon Street. <—Mis» Devenish.
No. 18 District.—Weetown: Misa Nermaa.
No. 17 District.—Frankleigh Park and Frankley Road.—Mrs Frethey. No. 18 Diatritt.—Park Tea-rooms.-Mrs Cory. Mr N. K. MacDiarmid offered the use of his residence during the day to receive all collections, and Mrs MacDiarmid kindly offered to provide afternoon tea from 3 to 6 for the workers. Mr N. T. Maunder has offered to drive the ladies in his ear from their district to the refreshment rooms.
It was decided that all people donating 2s Od or over bo provided with a badge.
At a meeting of Court Taranaki Foresters, held last evening, the following resolution waa unanimously oarried:— "That it be a recommendation from this Court to the District Court that all courts in the Taranaki District be asked to levy each member Is per member per quarter for one year, trie tolal amount of such levy to be handed to the Poor of Britain Fund." Ag there are some 1500 members in the Taranaki District, the donation should be a substantial one.
