BOWLING.
NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. t Tho following report will be presented at the annual 'meeting of luo A r ew pij. mouth Bowling Club to-morrow night: "In presenting the report for the past year, your committee congratulates the members on a successful season, -.is will be seen from the balance-sheet, the financial position is about the same as at the end of the previous year, the overdraft on September 1, 1013, bying 13s Id, and on September 1, ly)!, £54 9s Id. It must, however, be remembered that ft special levy of 10s per member was made at tin special general meeting held on June 21, 1#!1. So far only 24 members have paid this levy, but the £ 12 thus obtained enabled , the committee to show in the balancesheet a slightly smaller overdraft than in tho previous balance-sheet, and it is expected that those members who have not yet paid the levy will do so at an early, date. The committee would remind all members that at the same special general meeting it was resolved that in order to somewhat reduce the expenditure of'tihe clul* no liquor will in future be supplied at the expense of the club, and further, that on match days all members partaking of afternoon ten will pay a charge., of sixpence. i "The Taranaki banner was won by the i club after some close and'exciting con- 1 tests, and the club was very successful '] in the usual inter <-lub matches, winning all the matches played. ''The Auckland Howling Club and the Fonsonby Bowling Club sent teams t» visit Taranaki. Both lost their matches with our club. The match with the former team was for the "Commemoration Cup," which consequent')' remains in Xew Plymouth. Both teams expressed much pleasure, with their trip, and we may hope to welcoaie them again later on.
"The club matohes resulted as follow: Champion cup, won by Mr A. K. Smart; handicap pairs, won by Messrs A. K. Smart and H. Fookes; handicap singles, won by Mr W. L. Luscohibe.
"Much time and labor has been expended on the improvement of the gveen, and the committee trusts that the improvements and alterations will commend themselves to tho members. Very hearty thanks are -due to Messrs Luscoinbe and Wood for the great amount of voluntary work done by these gentlemen in effecting the alterations and improvements referred to.
"It ia with deep regret that the committee have to record the loss sustained by- the club by the death of Messrs 0. \V. Govctt anil R. Stuart. Both gentlemen will ho. much missed, especially the former, whoso place it will be hard to mi."
