WAITARA. MUSICAL EXAMINATION'S. The first musical examinations held in Y\ aitara under the Associated Hoard of the Royal Academy and Royal College of Music took place last W'eek. Several of the candidates who have passed have only been studying a short time, which speaks volumes for the teachers, as well as the pupils who have obtained such satisfactory results. The following are the results:—

EGG CIRCLE. A public meeting was held ill Messrs. Lund and Sampson's oflice on Friday evening, to consider tlio advisability of forming a local branch of the Thra'naki Egg Circle. There was not a large attendance. Mr (irifliths, of New Plymouth, attended the meeting, and explained at length the workings of the circle. Those present were unanimous that a branch should be formed in Waitari, and the following persons handed in their names for membership:—Messrs Wyllie, llackie, lierntsen, Kiddle, liapley, and Mrs Draper. Mr lierntsen was appointed the local delegate. Mr L. Sampeon stated his willingness to lend nis ofiice to the circle as a receiving depot. A vote of thanks wan trccoriTec Mr Griffiths for attending the meeting, and Messrs Lund and Sampson for the use of their ofiice.
UELI 1:1" FOR THE HKWIAKS. The dance arranged bv Messrs Purdie *nd Fowler, in aid of the I'.i'k'ian Relief Fund, was largely attended,' /about 40 couples being present. First-class music was supplied by L. Feek (piano), P. l'Yek (cornet), and C. Cole (violin). A good supper was provided, ami dancing was kept up till 1 a.m. Mr F. Proctor acted as M.C. The fund will benefit to the extent of about. 1-1.
'lhe sports ground oil (he camp ivFfrve is to be ploughed up. levelled, and put in good order for next season. The work is to be put in 'hand at once. Persons in the habit of using the ground as a short out will plea.se note that in future the practice will have to be discontinued.
