The E9, on coming to the Surface, found the He]a within range. She immediately dived and " iaumched two torpedoes, A muffled sound told that one torpedo had found its billet. The E9 remained Wow, and when she came to the surface the Hela 'had a heavy list, and other non-lighting German vessels were assisting hor. . The submarines again dived, and when they rose the Hela had ' diistappesiTed. The Germans did not detect use submarines, which escaped without a Shot being fired.
