Mr. 'P. S. Johns was last night installed at Worshipful Master of Lodge Ngamobu. A movement was inaugurated gom« ' time ago in Chris tchurch to present Sir Alexander Godley with a sword of honor previous to his departure with t.he expeditionary force, of which he is m ■ - command. It was pointed out, telegraphs a Times correspondent, that Sir Alexander's term as commandant of tha New Zealand forces would expire while he was in Europe with the force, and that the probability of his returning to New Zealand was small. The proposal 1 was made that each of the cities should vote £25, and the Dunedin City Council, through its finance committee, is recommending that that amount be voted. The Mayor of Christchurch sent hig personal cheque for £25, that amount being subscribed by Mr! Holland aa>d some 'friends. Mr. Holland thought in vie\4" of title many calls on city it tres * desirable that the contribution front th» city should be subscribed without ita coming from the ordinary city funds*.
