SALVATION ARMY CONGRESS. AN ILLUSTRATED LECTURE. The Salvation Army Hall was filled I last night when Adjutant Gibbs, tno ! local delegate to the Army's InteroaI tional Congress, gave a most interesting recital on matters connected with the i conference and places visited by him. ! The lecture was illustrated by a large number of very fine colored pictures ( screened by Mr Maunder, whose excellent lantern produced some beautiful results. Both the subject matter of the address and the pictures were greatly appreciated by the large audience. Adjutant Gibbs gave a very graphic description of the personnel of the "Conference, which was attended by Salvationists of all nations in their national garb. He mentioned that on Crystal Talace day 150,000 people were present, half of whom were Salvationists, and 11)0 bands took part, the massed bands numbering 4-000 players performing in the IlandeJ orchestra and producing a marvellous effect. Reference was made to the effective way in which the diversity of languages was overcome by an ingenious system of telephones and interpreters, whereby the delegates of various nationalities were kept posted up in the affairs of the Congress. The local Army is greatly indebted to Mr Maunder for his kindly assistance last night, and Adjutant Gibbs deserves great praise for the interesting way in which he handled his subject..
