GERMAN' AND BRITISH TROOPS * ENGAGED. London, September 13. A report from Nairobi, East Africa, slates that a strong German force has occupier Karingin. British forces despatched from Port Florence (on lake Victoria Xyanza) to intercept another German force, on the Tsavo River, were repulsed, and two officers and some natives were taken prisoners. j Some of those wounded ill the action fought on tlie Oth state that the Punjabis suffered heavily in an unsuccessful bayonet charge attempting to capture the machine guns in the faco of a murderous fire. . (German East Africa, and British East Africa are contiguous territories).
