An explosion occurred iu the Great Poseidon mine at Tanigemlia. One miner was killed and three injured. DEATH SENTENCE COMMUTED.
Perth, Sept. 11. Frederick Smith, who was> sentencea to death on August 14 for the murder of his son, has had the sentence commuted to seven yean*" impriscwmielit. When Smith was arrested) lw made a statement that he and .his son were discussing arrangements for the control of their respective properties, when the son lost his temper and threatened him. The father seized a gun and pointed it at his son, who rushed at his father. The latter lired. intending to aim all the son's legs. The chaige entered the lad's body, and he Tolled over dead.
