While the Moana was at (Papeete it wa 3 reported that the French gunboat (lelee had captured the (iermun steamer Walkure at Makatea Island, when loading guano, and brought her to I'apeete. The gunboat surprised the trader one morning while most of the crew were asleep. Till then they were unaware that war had broken out.
