THE DANDIES. - ''The Dandies" are returning to New Plymouth. They come with a great reputation. The Evening Post, Wellington, says:—"The Dandies, who wear orange-colored facings, gave a new pro-, gramme at the Town Hall last evening. As before, the whole entertainment went swiftly and brightly. Although there was the oliicially-compiled programme to go by, yet it was doubled when the encores were taken into account, and had it been left to the audience it might have been trebled, so per-i.-tent were'the em ores, which is prima facie evidence of the intense popularity of the Dandies. Mr Koland llcnrv is an entertainment in himself. J lis, little sketch, 'His Last Half-pint,' was very clever. J.ike all genuine comedy should lie and is. it had in it a strong strand of pathos running through it like a red strand in an Admiralty rope. A simple tiling-a picture (/f it garrulous toper—-ami yet 'lone !>y a master. The daintiness 'of the D.mdie'ti' form of entertainment is no doubt attributable to the fact that all who lake part in it can really sing and dance and act, and not merely think they can. Each artist in his or her own way gives tlia impression that in the particua'i item of the moment the limit of excellence is not reached, that there is much power in reserve. (.If the other members of the company, it may be truthfully said that they are fully equipped for •bigger things/' 1 And this, no doubt, is "the explanation of the company's popularity as demonstrated again ami again last evening by its friends, for "0 <iiie who has once seen the combination can regard him or her-elf as otherwise than n.-ii intimate, terms with its minibus, and that is why people go again ami again to the.
