The death occurred yesterday morning oi Mrs. Wishaw, * fonmerlv wellknown in the EH-lmiu and Stratford districts. •Mr. John Hopkins arrived in New Plymouth last night, to arrange for the appearance of "The Dandies" at an early date in tho Theatre Koyal. Senior-Sergeant HaddTell, w"iio completes a little over 43 years' service at the end of the present year, ret ire* from duty at the end of the present \month. He will be succeeded by Serjeant Bowden, of Feilding. who is spoken of ti very able and popular 'officer. Mr S. W. Shaw received a wireless 'message from Mr Newton King on 'Wednesday night informing him that „the Moana was expected to .reach Wellington early on Saturday morning.. Mr King adds that they are cxpc.ricne- ' ing rough weather, which -no doubt, accounts for the steamer toeing nearly a day later than was expected. A very well-known and popular rasi- • dc-nt of New Plymouth died on Thursday night, in the person of Mr James Oliver, at the age of 'So years. Mr Oliver was for many years in the service of the National Bank, and later with Mr Newton King and the Crown 'Dairy Company. Of late.years 'he -has been' in bad health, -and "his death is 'really a hapov release from suffering.
Miss l'\ Smith, recently in ehargo of the Kaimiro school, who, whh Alls* ICI- - Bollinger, formerly on the teai-hing staff in the. secondary department of the Stratford District High School, was touring the Continent when war broke, out, left Belgium for London a. week before hostilities commenced. Miss Bollinger was then returning to 'Germany, and .probably was in that country when war was declared. Having friends in influential quarters, and relatives also, little anxietv need Ibe entertained for her safety. The death occurred at' New Plymouth yesterday, after a lengthy illness, of Mr. John Simpson, who has for tiie past few rears being residing at Mangorei. Mr. Simpson, who 'had lie.cn furmin? in various parti of Taranaki for many vears pant, was (W 'ears of age. He. is survived bv a widow and a family of five sons :"Messrs .Tedin (formerly man-ni-er of the MnngßTci dairy factor? and now of the one of the. Thames Valley lVirv Company's branch factories)'.
