(From Our (Cvn Correspondents). OPUXAKE. Tin; ordinary monthly meeting was held on Monday evening. 'Present: Messrs Dudley (chairman), .Million, Todd, Ross and Trotter. in reply to .Mr. Rogers' request for continuation of footpath from his residence to Ilavolock street, it was decided that the Board could not do the work, as the cost would be, too much. The foreman was instructed to provide an estimate of forming a footpath from I'Hammond's residence to Masonic Lodgeroom. Air. Todd complained that unclean water was allowed to run into street drains; also that material taken out of the water channel near Opunake beach was allowed to remain on the road in an unsightly position.—The foreman's attention U to be called to the matter. The foreman reported that kerbing and channelling, bad been put down in front of McGregor's building and kerbing was now in course of erection in front of Middletou's hotel. He had also interviewed Mr. Uri.int.tto re crossing. The latter considered it a hardness to have to raise the work, as il was quite satisfactory as at present. He was willing, to pay haif--o-t of the work and haifcost of tarring and sanding footpath. — ft was decided to go on Willi the tarring and sanding a- -oon as the crossing was raised. It was necessary that this shoud be done so as to give an even gradient. The clerk reported that he had obtained the street lamps Irom the Xew Plymouth Borough Council. The members expressed Kiti.-iactitju at the value obtained. Accounts amounting to £SO, general account, and till) for gas account, were passi'd for paunent. The members went into Domain and Cemetery Board business. With the exception of endorsing the action of the sub-commit ice in accepting Air.. Chambers' tender of C 7 per annum for lease of part of Recreation Ground, and Air. Dillon's tender for painting cemetery gates, the business was mainly routine. This being the last meeting of the present members nf the Town Beard, .Mr. Dudley (chairman) thanked members for their assistance and attention to ail matters in connection with the Board. TAKIKi. A very succos-ful patriotic, concert and dance was held here on the 3rd inst., when the hall was filled to overflowing. The programme, which consisted for the most part of patriotic songs and recitations, seemed to satisfy the audience, who joined in the choruses and accorded the performers bounteous applause. The following were the items:—Xational Anthem; song ..Mr. W. Rudkin; recitation, Air. Mills; song. Miss Ilogan (encored); recitation'. Miss 11. Jemison; song, Air. W. 11. Hawkins: violin solo, Miss Steele; recitation, Miss Moana Steele; song, Air. T. Long ■(encored). , Mr. W. Matthews conducted a gift auction, which rculted:—Mr. H. Kerr's lamb, ;C1 -la lid; APs. J. Knowlcs' ham, £1 7s; Airs. Spray's canary and cage, ,ill; Air. C. ('• Young's concertina,, 15s; and the Alisses Kvcw'iu's doll, Bs. $ On the motion of the chairman, it was decided thai, on the closing of the War FundTa sell-denial relief fund should be started, contributions to which representing some ioierilicu'of luxury or comfort oil the part of the giver. After standing a few moments in silence as an act of reverence to those British and Allies who have: fallen in, the war, the audience and performers joined in singing "God Save the King." UULTI. At the annual meeting of the Uruti Xursiug Association the balance-sheets for both the cottage and nurse funds were read. The former showed a credit balance of .CI7 and the latter £42. The chairman (Mr. W. Old), in bis address, Jstatcd that) the nurse's cottage IwA been launched successfully. The residents of Uruti. with the assistance of the Hospital Hoard and the Government subsidy, had built the cottage, and the Victoria League, of Xew Plymouth, had provided nearly the whole of the furniture, for which the community's thanks were due. The Association had had a most successful year, both financially and in usefulness. Over 400 cases of minor accidents, illness and obstretic cases had been passed through the nurse's hands. The cottage was trebling the lisefnlress oil the nurse, and in lot's of ways was proving a very great blessing. '■After Nurse Kelly, who had been with u- for; nearly two years, left. a little dilliculty bad been experienced in getting a suitable nurse, ■but they were settled now. and trusted that they would remain so. After the u-iial thanks to the chair, the secretary and the committee, a special vote of' thanks was passed to Air. llalcombe, district member of the Hospital Hoard, v.ho was present, and to Air. R.
