NEW PLYMOUTH SESSION. ' (Before Mr. Justice Edwards.) The sitting of the Supreme Court was resumed yesterday before Mr Justice Edwards. THEFT OF MONEY. Chas. A._ Harris, who had on the previous day* been convicted of stealing certain premiums collected by him for the A.M.P. .Society, was brought up for sentence. In reply to the usual question, Harris said that lie had nothing to nay why sentence should not be passed on him. His Honor'said that he had decided to admit Harris to probation, : but he would have to pay the costs, but reasonable time would be given him. On the question of time, Mr Johnstone said that Harris was in employment and might at any time be out of work. He therefore asked for six months time in which to pay the amount. I His Honor said he would allow six months time, but in doing so ne was exercising great indulgence to Harris whom he hoped would profit thereby, but lie warned prisoner that if he misbehaved at any time, he would be brought up and sentenced on the present charge. Probation would lie granted for eighteen months, on condition that Harris paid £3O 9s fid, costs of the prosecution within six months. ' Prisoner was then discharged. SENTENCE FOR- THEFT. A colored man named William Sc&r----t» oa, who was committed for sentence at Stratford on Tuesday on a charge of breaking and entering the house of Mrs Jakes at Tariki on ths 7th hist.,' and, stealing therefrom a watch, was brought before -Mr Justice Edwards yesterday. I Mr Weston appeared for the Crown. ! It appeared that prisoner had a long list of convictions, including being declared an habitual criminal. His Honor passed a sentence of 12 months' imprisonment with hard labor, and again declared prisoner an habitual criminal. Tli is concluded the sitting of the Court. . "
