Sir Oliver Lodge, in an interview, declared that the. war was an abominable piece of wickedness, but, when there wa s a. bullying dominant Power amongst the nations, for the sake of humanity, it was necessary- to smash it with such vigor that it could not rear .its head again. He hoped the attitude of British fairness and humanitarian scruples would be pursued to the uttermost whatever her foes might do.
