The censorship of * British outgoing news has caused much delay in transmission, but the Government until recently failed to take steps to ensure that official news should be sent with, all despatch to neutral countries. It i& contended that no time should be lost in remedying this regrettable and dun-. gerous situation. >•'

QUEEN'S INTEREST IN WOMEN'S
EMPLOYMENT
ATLANTIC MUST, BiE SWEPT CLEAR OF GERMANS.
London, September 4. ' Twenty thousand men enlisted yesterday, and the authorities in London are scarcely able to cope with the rush. Despite this enthusiasm, the clergy are being circularised and are making an anpeal in a recruiting sermon on Sunday. Meetings have also been arranged all over London.
In the Queen's belief the prevention of distress is better than relief and employment better than charity. She has therefore inaugurated the Queen's Work for Women Fund to secure funds wherewith women will be provide! with employment. Lady Orewc is chairwoman and Mesdames Asquith, and Austia Chamberlain and Ladies Bvycti, Dcrbjpi and Illehester are assisting.' The money: raised will he spent on schemes devisee? by the Central Committee for Women's Employment. The commercial advisera include many leading business men. The 'Government arranged ?or 2000 tons of Australian and Argcniine meat in Liverpool to be sent to Paris last week, and 2000 more tons are ;■,.■» being sent. '■
Underwriters demand strong-r efforts for the capture of .the few Germatt cruisers which are chiefly in iJib South' Atlantic, fearing for the safety of Australian and New Zealand Homeward boats and the outward Rive.: Plata boats. The Ulster Unionist Counej: ;d Belfast passed a resolution deprecating any attempt to interfere with the Home Rule truce, and urging the Ulster voitmtccra to enlist for active service. s ' The Dockers' Union, in a' manifesto, says that every able-bodiel n-,;.n must fight or be ready to defend ;(.<: country.
