FIRES.
OUTBREAK AT VEALIO I'D AD. A seven-roomed house on the Vealu road, owned bfl (Mesar*. Marctti Bros., and occupied toy Air C. <fiilbert, was totally destroyed tbv lire early yesterday morning. The occupants of the house, who were '"batching" there at the time. were awakened shortly, after midnight by a crashing sound, just as the .tin was making its way into the i'.coni in which they were sleeping. The furniture was uninsured, and little or nothing was saved. The building, also, was reduced to ashes in a very short time. There wivs an insurance for £IOO in the New Zealand office. Tim glare of the fire was noticed by several people in town. The building being outside the town boundaries, the lire brigade diu not turn out. i
