An English artist arrested by the Germans at Namur has been released. He describes the Germans' splendid organisation, columns marching as though on parade, and officers giving orders like pistol-shots. An officer marked his disapproval of a man who was slightly: out of line by spitting upon him. The transport wagons are marked "Berlin to Paris." . GERMANS OCCUPY A LOST. BUT ARE DRIVEN OUT. Ostend, September 2. Tlio Germans yesterday raided Alost, halfway between Brussels and Ghent, and occupied the station, town hall and bridges. Eventually Belgian lancers drove them off.

A German spy, wearing a British captain's uniform, was arrested at the front, conversing with British officers, lie was wearing the French and German uniforms beneath the British. Autwerp. September 2. A shell exploded a few yards from King Albert, who was directing the operations of the marines. The back wheel of his motor was torn off. Belgians agree that the Germans' machine guns are good. One, installed in a parish church, surprised a Belgian detachment, 350 strong, while taking a ha«ty meal. Only sixty escaped. .V Zeppelin reappeared at dawn to-day and was vigorously fusilladed by a cannonade.
Georges Leysen, a boy scout at Liege, secured the arrest and execution of eleven spies. Leysen killed a Uhlan, and, though suffering from a fractured arm. entered Malines and twiee penetrated the German lines. The. King decorated-him, giving him a commission.
The Germans have blown up the Hotel de Villo (Town ITnll) at Namur.
