( - "Tawoa,"* Mrs. Mason Chambers' lineresidence oil the Havelock 'hills, wascompletely destroyed by lire this afternoon. It is supposed that a defective chimney caused the outbreak on thefirst floor. Only the servants were at norne. Nothing was saved. Tile loss includes a valuable library and collec- ■ tion of cuTios, which cannot bo replaced. The outbuildings, being of concrete, ■ware saved, and the fire was prevented from spreading to the plantation's. Insurances ore m the Farmers' Mutual, £1750 on the Ihouse, and £1760 on thefurniture. The total loss is estimated at £7OOO.
