EMPIRE, PICTURE PALACE. The Empire was well filled last evening to witness the new programme. "Black Roderick, the Poacher," a 2000 ft. A.K. star feature, is strictly one of the best Highland romances ever presented. Tile story is a captivating one which hap "SoirißtJiing in it" The various situations are so skilfully contrived that one does not appear to be witnessing ii screen-play but to be regarding reality. "A Leap for Life" is a Kalem drain-.i of a tihoririu'glily exciting luitur. 1 . The driver of an express train is hurled from his engine, and in falling he accidentally pulls the throttle wide open. The express dashes on at a terrible speed. Half an hour in front is the freight brain. 'Word gels through to the head office about the Tunaway, and Dale the president, gives chase in a motorcar. Bv taking a short cut, he reaches an overhead bridge before the runaway. Dale leaps for one of the cars as the train dashes under, and escapes death !>y a miracle. By this time the express is close on the freight train, and Dale, with one leap, reaches the engine and brings the express to a standstill within a, few feet from the freight train. His Favorite IPastimcv' a Keystone comic, caused roars of laughter. hlins shown were "A Romance of the West, (Luhin drama), "The Graphic," "Rice Culture," "Pollidor and the Lions." and ("Spanish Morocco." This fine collection is screened finally, to-night.
