LONDON MARKETS.
London, August 28. Pig iron, 51s. Sugar.—Foreign granulated, spot 29s fld.
Bradford wool.—The sales are stagnant except for Government requirements; 64's (tops) 31d, super 60*s 30tf, common 60' a 29%. Butter. —Quiet; there have been fair arrivals of Dutch, Danish and Irish, but few arrivals of Australian. The latter is quoted: Salted, 110s to 1245; unsattcd, 118s to 120s. Danish is quoted at 128s to 1325. New Zealand 1 , nominal 1213s to 120s. Cheese. —Quiet; the few New Zbalands offered have been sold. Prices: Colored 70s, white 72»; Danish 80s to 84s-. A few Australian Cumberlands realised 72s to 76*.
Wheat.—Firm, on the sharp American advance. Sellers are asking more,tat the demand is inactive. Australian landed, 455. Flour.—Firm; Australian, store, 34s to 355.
Oats.—Slow. New Zealand Gartens, afloat, 295.

There is i> great domand for Now Zealand slipes and scouTed crossbreds owing to Government khaki requirements. About eight thousand bales have been sold privately at a halfpenny above July rates, LOAN AND MERCANTILE CO.'S REPORT.
The New Zealand loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd. (Stratford branch) report as follows: On Monday, 24th inst., we held a very successful clearing sale on account of Messrs Patterson Bros., iPembroke road. The cows were in good condition, but showed considerable age. The attendance numbered about 120, and competition was keen for all lines. The cows brought from £6 for aged cows to £l3 10s for good young HolsteinShorthorn sorts. Farm sundries sold well. Sows in pig realised £7, boar 37s Od, slips 27s to 225; 4-year Consby gelding £35, aged gelding £2O, aged mart; £lO 10s.
On Tuesday, 23th inst., wo held our usual'fortnightly sale in our Stratford yards, when the following prices were realised:—Store cows (in lines) £2 12s Od to £4 10s, forward cows £5 ss, £5, £4 17s, fat cows £7 sa, Shorthorn yearling heifers 32s to 40s, Jersey-cross yearling theiters £2 his, store wethers 10s.
in the dairy yards we sold, on account of Ed. Barnett, Esq., part of his dairy herd, which made from £5 10s to £l3, averaging £8 10s for the line; 3-year heifers, close to profit, £5 15s to £7 10s. On Saturday, 22nd inst., in conjunction with-other auctioneers, we held a very successful gift sale on account of the War Fund. Tihe local stock agents and a number of farmers were most patriotic, and made the sale a great success. The total amount of the sale was £220.
AUCKLAND MARKETS.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company report as follows: Westficld—Best dairy cows and heifers sold at from £7 to £8 10s, others £4 to £0 15s, empty cows £3 3s to £4 12s fid, calves 20s to 37s fid, bulls £3 10s to £4 15s.
i At Albert yards on Friday heavy draught horses sold at from £27 to £33 15s, medium horses £lB to £3O. hacks £lO to £24, light harness horses £5 to £l2 10s, ponies £3 to £7. At Manurewa on Monday dairy cows, close to profit, made £7 to £9 10s, heifers to £9, backward cows £3 to £0 ss, empty cows £3 to £4 10s, calves SOs tu £2 (is, spring trap £l4, sheep (hoggets) 13s Od.
At Westfield yards on Wednesday best oxen sold at 33s per 1001b, others •29s to 325, cows and .heifers 27s to 295; steers sold at from £8 7s (id to £ls 15s, cows and heifers £5 to £lO 10s. Veal calves came forward in large numbers, and sold at lower rates. Extra heavy-weights sold at from £5 10a *• £7 3s. medium weight £3 to £4 17s, lighter £2 to £2 18s, smaller £l: 10s to 38s, small and fresh-dropped 3s to 255. Sheep camo forward in full numbers, and showed no improvement in price. Best wethers sold at from 25s to 275, others l!)s Od to 24s 9d, heavy ewes 22s to 24s fid others 15s to 21s Sd. Hoggets came forward in good supplv, and sold well. (Best quality 19s (id to 21s. others l«s 9d to 19s 3d.' Pigs were penned in less numbers than usual, and very few porkers were yarded. Prices were higher than lato sales. Large porkers £2 12s to £3 Bs, porkers £1 15s to £2 10s, slips 22s to 25s (id, weaners lis to ISs.
