The resignation of Miss M. W. Stephens, head mistress of the Rahotu school, was accented at yesterday's meeting of tho Board of Education. •The death occurred at Manaia yesterday ot' Mr. Willia™ Hall, who wis one of the first, if not actually the first, business nmn in 'Manaia, having conducted a general storekeeping business for imany years-. _ Mr. Hall leaves a widow, but no family. The following have been appointed to act as commissioners at schools which failed to elect committees: Messrs P. Drake and G. W. Rogers (Okohe), W. llodge (Kohu-rar.ahi), J. ,B. Norris (Mangaehu), ,T. b'fcockley (Mohakau), 0. Watchorji (Puniwhaka). Mr. Vernon, principal of the Palmerston North High l School, is on a visit to New Plymouth, and this evening Mr. Heat-on, principal of the Ns'pier Hiiii School, will arrive here. Both visits are in connection (with the annual triangular gathering of the l'almerston 'North, Napier, and Xe\v Plymouth lligil Schools.
