To-day is tlie first pay-day in connection with the new scheme introduced by' the Wellington Co-operative Waterside Labor Employment '.Association. There is a total of 1100 men on the pay-sheet, and the wages amount to £3138 odd, ranging in individual cases from .Cfi 10s downwards. T'he umftual ■activity in loading the troopships was largely responsible for the large wages. Practically all the available labor on the waterfront was engaged.
