NOT DEMOCRATIC ENOUGH.
To the Editor. Sir,—The invitation extended to some representative men to witness the review at the Palmers ton North enmp on Monday, whilst right as as it goes, does not go far enough. The Government haß failed to rise to the occasion. It was the late Mr. Richard Seddon who made it easy for parents and relatives to see their boys ibefore the departure ■with the South African contingents. But the day of Liberal democracy litis evidently reached its close, and we have an "invitation by ticket" sort of gathering at this review. The mothers and fathers of tliose lads in training should have the first thoughts of the authorities —I am, etc.; WIS.
