PATRIOTIC CONCERT.

There was a crowded attendance at the patriotic concert which was toeld in St. Mary's tHall last night, arranged by the jGirls' Friendly Society. After the | National Anthem had been sung, a verv bright programme was submitted, commencing with a comedietta., and eonclud- v ing with a farce, musical items ibeing 'sandwiched between. The plays were well staged and performed, every member of the caste admirably filling the role. The programme comprised a pianoforte solo ■ by Mre Douglas; song; " Three far Jack," Mr <R. Hall-Johnson (encore number, "Gentlemen,, .the Ring"); recitation, "Whitewashing the Clothes" (encore, "Aunt Doleful''), Mrs Nathaht The comedietta, submitted to an appreciative audience, was "Wanted, a Governess," the caste comprising: >Mrs Manyearcs, Misa E. Watson; Tottie, Miss Freda Hirst; Pussy, Miss Edna Mount; Mfas Laura Languish, Miss Renaud; Miss Barbara 6 Bike, Miss Bocock; Miss Vera Vane, Miss iepine. Miss Priscill* < Prim, Miss Bedford; Miss Clara Clever, Miss George; Susan, Mise F. Harrison! "A Terrible Journey" concluded! the" programme, the parts -being taken as follow:—Aunt Jemima, Miss D. Bedford; Doris, Miss D. Bradbury;. Lottie, . Miss D. Simpson; Bessie, Miss M! Thomson. During the evening a little ' girl named Audry Eberlet recited "The Absent-mauled Beggar," supported bv two Boy Stouts, and the enthusiastic audience showered coins on. the staee totalling 12<, which will go to the Patnotic Fund. Miss Douglas played the accompaniments.
