It is officially announced from Vienna tliat the Austnans on Friday, after seTcre fighting, drove the Servians from a stronghold on the east side of the Drina, near Loznitza. The .same dav the Servians made a fierce attack. "'The Austrian, on Saturday, continued the advance and captured four guns. The losses on both Rides were neavy. Details of the fighting have uot been received. • BRITISH SUBECTS SEVERELY TREATED. Rome. August IC. The English Consul at Trieste has arrived at Aneona. He state* that severe measures have been adopted against British subjects in Austria. Many have been arrested and imprisoned. ! BOMBARDMENT OF CATTARO. i Cettingc. August 16. ■ A telegram states that the Montenegrins are effectively bombarding the Austrian position in the Gulf of Cattaro. Two forts and a powder magazine have i been destroyed. A DEMAND FlfOM ITALY. Rome. August 16. The Oovernment asks Austria either to make the blockade of the Austrian coasts effective or formally to withdraw. The step is considered necessary on account, of Italy's commercial rela'tions with Montenegro.
