ARBITRATION COURT.
POSITION 01" CLUBS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Judgment was tiled in Jie Arbitration Court to-day, on an application which was made, on belle.!? of the Wellington hotel worker.-: to add clubs to the award. In the judgment it wis pointed out that under section 71 ii the Conciliation and Arbitration Act a worker who is employed o.licrwi.se than .for direct or indirect pecuniary gain of the employer is exempt from* the provisions of' the award. it followed, therefore, that clubs which arc not? conducted for the pvtrpi.r,!! of pecuniary uain and which are-not bodied corporate are expressly exempt. In regard to clubs which are licics corporate, the Court has jurisdiction to join tlieni as parties ;;i an award; but if such curbs are not carried on for the purpose o! pecuniary gain the Court would in the ' exercise'of its discretionary powers decline to .p-in i"?v>r. as parties to an award.
