On the other, hand, applications had been received in favor of a reduction from or abolition of the duties on white pine for butterboxes and kauri for brush-wokr. A. representative of the Sawmillers' Association asked, for an increase of the duty on Now Zealand timber by size. Another witness favored that white pine undressed should be admitted free.
