SPEECH BY ISRJTAIL'S PREMIER. DIFFICULTY IN FINDING OFFICERS. I Received 11, 11.45 p.m. London, August 11. 1 Mr. Asquith, in the House of Commons. said Lord Kitchener was anxious to give every help to the organisation and equipment of Irish volunteers. Tin* i Government had shown confidence in the j patriotism of the Irish by countermandI ing the despatch of English territorials to Ireland, who, under the mobilisation scheme, would have gone. Mr. Asquith added: "Lord Kitchener's chief difficult v is to find officers aid noncommissioned officers for the second army of a hundred thousand.'' Mr. Asquith also annouie-cd that separation allowances would be paid to soldier* who were married off the strength, also pensions- if killed. The War Office's refusal to recognise such wires hid '-aused many hardships during the Hut war.
