BOROUGH COUNCIL.

MONTHLY MEETING. At the monthly meeting of the New Plymouth Council last night there were present: His Worship the Mayor and Crs. J. Ivibby, F. H. Jackson, Wm. Healy, S. J. Smith, A. H. Johnstone, W. A. Collis, W Amburv, A. E. Sykes, J. T. Mannix and N. T. Afaunder. BROOKLANDS ROAD PETITION. Messrs Martin, Tooke and Fairbrother waited on_ the Council to support their request with regard to lighting Brooklands road. They expressed their disappointment at the decision of the Council to refuse the request, and asked that tile decision be reconsidered, if not in its entirety, at least as to making arrangements whereby the light could lie installed in their residences. It was contended that the Council was not acting fairly in the matter of lighting, and 't. was pointed out- that the road itaclf had been neglected since the district merged into the borough. Cr. Collis said that one of t'he questions raised was in hand, a committee having been appointed to submit a scheme to the Council for re-metalling a number of streets, one of which was Brooklands road.
