ON THE OFFENSIVE. . 250,000 VETERANS UNDER ARMS. OLD HOPES OP SEA FRONTAGE REVIVED. TROOPS CROSS THE FRONTIER. Received 10, 10.5 p.m. London, August 9 (morning). The Daily Telegraph's correspondent reports from Nish, via Salonika, that the Austrians have so far failed to invade Servia. Great enthusiasm prevails, and the officers now expect to •realise their national aspirations, take (Bosnia and Herzegovina, and secure a port on the Adriatic. All men between eighteen and fifty-Sve are pressed into service. The mobilisation yielded 450,000. Many raw recruits, who need officers and elotlies,- were being formed into bands of irregulars, and thrown into Bosnia in order to foment a revolution. The actual army numbers 250,000 veterans of two campaigns. Concentration is mainly directed towards ■the Serbo-Hungarian frontier on the Danube, presumably to junction with tha •Russians. Staff officers announce that the concentration was completed on August 7, when a forward movement was initiated. The Servian mobilisation has been completed. The Servians entered Bosnia near Prioboja to cut off the retreat of a bodv of Austrians. Tlie main body has retired to Vishnegrad, which they are fortifying.
