I PRESENTATION AT new PLYmouth. An unusual ceremony took place at l M n tl ° g . 1 of , t,le N(iw Plymouth Borough, Council last night, when, at tl>o request of the Royal Humane Society, a silver medal and certificate were presented to Mr J. P. Ouldane for » eZ spiouous act of -bravery. It will he remembered that Mr.Culdanc made a brave attempt to rescue a. man named Masse y from the burning sol tar works m Auckland recently. The presentation was made by His Worship the Mayor, with appropriate remarks. rcapieut his gratitude at the honor conferred on him, savin!; that he would value the presentation MgMy He modestly disclaimed accredit for personal bravery, sayincr that he considered what he hid done to be mcieiy Ins duty. He would wear the medal as long as he lived.
