ANNUAL MEETING. ' The eighteenth annual meeting of the Warea Uo-operative Dairy Co. was held at Warea-on Monday, Mr. J. Burgess, chairman of directors, presiding over an attendance of about 40 suppliers. The annual report showed that the amount remaining to credit of prolit and loss account on closing the books was £lBlB 23 Su, and out of this the directors had appropriated £389 17s lid to provide far depreciation, leaving a balance of £1428 4s Dd, out of which a payment of interest at the rate of 4 per cent, per annum on fully-paid shares would be made, absorbing £ 142 10s 8d; and a further payment of 1 l-10d per lb on all butter-fat supplied during the year, which would amount to £1279 2s, and leave £(i <>s Id to be carried forward to next year, or otherwise dealt with. The payment for butter-fat, including the further payment, was 13d per lb, in addition to interest on shares. It would be necessary to elect two directors in place of Messrs Burgess and Rumball, who retired by rotation, and offered themselves for re-election; and also to elect an auditor, Mr. Mills again oil'ering his services.
Tlie following particulars of milk received and Gutter and cheese made were given:—At Warea, 4,76D.1641bs of milk were received, producing 154.6701bs of butter-fat, at an average test of 3.87; at Newall, 2,780,4781bs of milk were received, producing 104,256'1bs of 'butterfat at an average test of ?.70. Butter-making—Butter-fat, 24,6131b5j better made, 28,4551b; over-run, 15.6' per cent. Cheese-making—Newall: Milk received, 2,571,2421b5; butter-fat, 96,594 lbs; cheese made (factory weigbt) 257,3741b5; lbs milk to 11> cheese, 8.99; lbs cheese to lb butter-fat, 2.66; official average grade, 88.74. Warea: Milk received, 4,350,12G1b5; butter-fat, 167,7191b5; cheese made (factory weight), 426,722 lbs;, lbs milk to lib cheese, 10.2; lbs cheese to lb butter-fat, 2.55; official average grade, 88.22. Total cheese made (factory weight), 684,91511)8. Whey and starter butter made, 16,0901b5. After some criticism on the payment of the strike levy, the cost of firewood and horse ■ feed, the balance-sheet was adopted. The main objection to the firewood account was raised on the score that tenders had not been publicly called for .ts supply. There were live nominations for the vacancies on the directorates, viz., Messrs J. Burgess, W. Rumball, 0. Magon, C. Muir. and W. B. Clarke, and the two first-named were re-elected by big majorities. Mr. 0. T. Mills waa-re-elected auditor. A special general meeting will be called, at winch notice has been given to «:.ore that tlii! number of directors bo increased from five to seven. Mr. Jas. Burgess was subsequently reelected chairman of directors for the fourteenth consecutive year.
