BISHOP CLEARY AND CATHOLIC OBJECTORS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Education Committee sat this morning to hear further evidence on the Bible-in-Schools question, when Bishop Cleary was croas-exammed by Canon Garland. In the course of the examination, Bishop Cleary said that Catholics would be prepared to sanction any scheme which respected their conscience. The Chinch was definitely opposed to the League's scheme of religious instruction, -and also opposed to questions of rtJigion and conscience being decided by a plebiscite. The prospect of a subsidy to their own schools would not tempt Catholics to support the demands of the League In reply to Professor Hunter.
