Last night tlie Qu-jeii Alexandra's 2nl counted Killas held their annual social in the luwn Hall. On a judgment summons Henry Alfred Waite was ordered to pay ±4 2s 9d on or before the 30th August, or in default five davs" in New Plymouth prison. R. J. Daisley, of Kgmont Village, farmer, sued J. B. G. Forrester, also of ligmont Village, for £5 for trespass and damages. Plaintiff leased part of defendant's farm, and the trouble arose over tilie removal 1 of an old boundary fence jriiieh was not .in the proper place, huntiff alleged that defendant entered his part of the farm, and wrongfully removed the fence. Plaintiff and A.B. VV inter gave evidence in support. The Magistrate held that defendant was entitled to remove the fence, but in so doing committed a technical trespass, and Jie gave judgment for the plaintiff for 10s, with costs 17a. Mr. Paterson appeared for plaintiff and Mr. Johnstone lor defendant.
At the instance of the Public Health Department, the police prosecuted W. "Orner, an Inglewood milkman, for selling milk containing 20 per cent, of water. Inspector Foiidcr gave evidence ns to hiving purchased a sample of milk ti'oni defendant on June 29 last, and sending it to the Government Analyst, whose certificate was produced. Defendant denied having added water to the milk, and was at a loss to account for it. In reply to the magistrate, ho said samples had been taken from his cart on several occasions!, and lie had never been prosecuted before. The magistrate remarked that the public must be protected, and inflicted a line of £3 and costs 17s (id. Charles A. Harris was further remanded to New Plymouth on Thursday next for allegedly failing to account foi moneys collected by him on behalf of tlie A.M.P. Society.
