WAQTARA ROAD. An inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the burning of tho Huirangi school lire was held last Thursday be-' fore Mr. H. Trimble (chairman)' and Messrs A. H. Ha.lccfliibe and A. Morton, members of the Education Board, and Messrs J. H. Smith, P. 11. E. Surrey and J._ Nicoll, members of the scliool'committee. The evidence of Miss Meado, the schoolmistress, Miss Hutchison the assistant, and Melba Loveridge, one of the scholars, was taken, and the conclusion drawn from the inquiry was that the fire was purely accidental, no blame being attachable to anyone. Arrangements have been made whereby the school w.ill again open in the old cbapel, kindly let for the purpose by Mr. L. Andrews. Mr. Moore, the Board's foreman, has made several improvements which will make the place fairly convenient till a new school is erectedA euchre party and dance was held in the Huirangi hall last Wednesday evening, fourteen tables toeing occupied. Mrs. B. Wells won the first prize for ladies (set of jugs, donated by Mr. H. LanglnmD) and Mrs L. Andrews second prize (handbag, donated by Mr. McGribbon). Mr. L. Sarten won the gents' first prize (set fireirons, donated by Mr. Jenkins) and Mr. W. Eowe the second (military hair brush, donated by Mr. F. Buchanan). The music for the dance was supplied: by Miss Carr (piano) and Mr. Smith (cornet). Mr. L. Andrews was M.C.
